DIY HOLIDAY SWEATER!

Hey Guys! Here, is my first DIY project! This project is a little late... I had no wifi for the week. But, all the Christmas supplies should be on sale, so you can make one early for next year! Anyways, for my first project, I decided to do something for the holidays! Last Friday, I went to a Christmas party and we had to wear holiday sweaters. I actually had to do this project quickly because I had an exam to study for that night, and I was not able to photograph my steps. But here are the materials, my design, and my sweater!

I was inspired by a sweater I found online (green sweater), and then I went on my laptop and created my own. The next day I went to my local craft store, and got all the materials I believed I needed. You can make your own design, but here is my design and the supplies I used.

      Materials:
  • felt - in many colors: tan, brown, blue, red, pink, white, a sparkly red and some pre-cut trees (or just green felt)
  • a sweater, either red or green
  • lots of accessories: pom-poms, letter stickers, bells, sticky trim stickers (or ribbon), and some googly eyes
  • fabric glue or hot glue- I used hot glue.
This sweater was actually pretty simple, I just cut out the shapes that I made on my design and hot glued them, then I added all the bells and accessories. It was so simple to make this and I loved the outcome. It's so cute and you can personalize it any way you want.

Step 1: First, I glued bells and pom-poms onto my pre-cut trees. Then I glued both trees onto the side of my sweater.
Step 2: I began to cut out a few small squares using the pink, blue, and red felt, and then glued pieces of the sticky ribbon. After they were done, I glued the presents under the tree.
Step 3: Then, I cut out the shape of the gingerbread in the tan felt and glued on his eyes and some bells and ribbon onto him. And I also added a bow-tie.
Step 4: Using the brown felt, I cut out a long oval and 4 short rectangles. This became the table the gingerbread man stands on. So I glued the table on and then the gingerbread man.
Step 5: The most difficult part, was the Santa hand. I just used the red to make the arm and then double layered the white (the white felt was so thin) and cut it into a hand. Then I glued the arm on.
Step 6: Finishing touches! I added the "Ho Ho," next to the Santa hand, and then added a silver piece of paper as the star!

This project was so much fun, except for when I burned my thumb... But it is a great project, just try to be careful! It would be fun to do with friends or family!
Oh! and one last thing, I don't think it would be a good idea to wash this sweater, just because it is held together with hot glue and stickers. So I would just spot clean it.
Thanks guys! hope you liked this first DIY!
Lots of Love,
Megan
